The Lighthouse Project

The Lighthouse Project is a student led non-profit organization dedicated to the focus and improvement of mental health, especially in schools through providing counseling sessions and eradicating the stigma around asking for help.

How we work to improve our community, and finance our mission.

Family Fun Night

The core event of the Lighthouse project is the yearly family fun night. Due to Covid-19, the 2020 family Fun Night was postponed. Our Family Fun Night brings the community together through a keynote speaker, family friendly band, games, and a raffle.

Northern Pines Counseling

During the 2019 Family Fun Night, The Lighthouse Project donated $25,000 to Northern Pines Counseling This money is used to provide students free counseling sessions. Last year the Lighthouse project provided 44 Brainerd students with 491 free counseling sessions.

Brainerd Public Schools Foundation

During the 2019 Family Fun Night the Lighthouse Project donated $10,000 to BPSF (Brainerd Public Schools foundation) to be used for student mental health. The money was donated to integrate the Sources of Strength mental health program into Brainerd High School, however thanks to a grant received by Essentia Health the Sources of Strength program has been funded through the grant. Thus, freeing up The Lighthouse Project donation to improve the mental health of the student body elsewhere in the school. Not yet determined.

Fun Run

The Lighthouse Project hosts an annual September fun run, with an alternating theme each year. In 2018, we led a Bubble Run, with bubble machines stationed around the course. The Lighthouse Project combined with the Brainerd Yearbook in 2019 for our Color Run. The runners wore white shirts and were sprayed with color throughout the race.

Jack Pine

Starting in 2019 the Lighthouse Project in collaboration with Jack pine Brewery held an event at the Brewery. The event was a fundraiser accompanied with music performed by Bryan Barber.
